Many of the walls of the rock-hewn churches have intricate reliefs. This particular relief of our Lord was only accessible to men; my step-son had to take a picture for me! Our tour guide, Kassa, told me why: when our Lord rose from the dead on Easter morning, He warned Mary not to touch him. This led to the rule in this church that women were not to even look upon the Lord's image!
